Ear Problems: Pain, Ringing & Vertigo
I have recently been treating a lot of patients with ear problems. Problems range from muffled ears, full ears, ringing in ears, vertigo, and pain in the ear. Ear troubles are common this time of year due to factors such as allergies, change in pressure systems (weather), and food sensitivities (ie. dairy intolerance). For many years, I have had great success in treating patients with ear troubles. I utilize a variety of techniques specific to the problem of the ear or neck.
Treatments may include a soft tissue technique of draining the eustation tube (tube that drains the ear and sinuses) to help it clear the ear. Quite often the eustation tube is blocked with ear wax or it can also be pinched within tight muscles of the neck.
Also, chiropractic adjustments may be done to realign the bones in the neck that muscles are attached to, sometimes pinching the eustation tube. In addition, direct adjustments of the ear help realign the eustation tube to allow proper draining.
I also recommend home treatments to help ear drain. Moist heat is applied to the ear and neck for 10 minutes per ear, two times a day. A wet towel or rice bag that has been microwaved for warming work well for moist heat.
