Introducing The Graston Technique

This year at Thrive, I am going to be diving into some advanced training and education to better serve our patient population and expand our services. Last weekend I had the opportunity to travel to Phoenix for training in Graston Technique. Graston is a form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization that allows practitioners to identify areas of restriction and effectively break down scar tissue and fascial restrictions. This technique utilizes six specially designed stainless steel instruments to specifically detect and effectively treat areas exhibiting restriction or chronic inflammation.

Graston offers many advantages to patients including:

  • Pain relief
  • Quicker recovery time
  • Reduction in use of medication
  • Increased blood circulation to tissues
  • Improved flexibility

One of the reasons I was interested in adding Graston to our services is the wide variety of conditions that it can help. Some of these include:

  • Post-surgical scars
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Hamstring injuries
  • Tennis/golfer’s elbow
  • Back pain
  • Neck pain
  • Rotator cuff injuries
  • IT band pain
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome

We will be providing Graston in the clinic as an adjunctive therapy with your chiropractic care or as a stand-alone service. This allows current chiropractic patients to add this service on in tandem with their current treatment, or to come in for that service alone.

I look forward to introducing the benefits of Graston to all of you in the coming weeks!
