January Reset: A Guide to Prioritizing Health

The new year is the time for resolutions, blank slates and new goals. As a healthcare practitioner, I hear this nearly every day this time of year. People always have good intentions, but these often go by the wayside as the realities of everyday life set in.

Rather than trying to make a total lifestyle overhaul, committing to one or two smaller changes that you can stick to can have a significant impact on our health long-term.

These are the pillars of health that I believe can make the biggest impact to overall health:

  1. Movement: Humans were intended to move and require movement just like they require water, air and proper nutrition. This doesn’t mean that you have to hit the gym every day. It could mean walking in nature, dancing, lifting weights or anything that puts you in motion. Aim to move your body intentionally each day.
  1. Hydration: The body requires water to deliver nutrients to the body, to rid the body of waste and to maintain its balance of water. Set a goal to drink half of your body weight in ounces of water a day. Hot tip! Keep a bottle of water near you. If it’s there you’ll drink it, if it’s not, you won’t.
  1. Nutrition: Everything that goes into your body moves you closer to, or further away from health. Making small changes like eliminating soda can make big changes over time.
  1. Get Adjusted: Regular chiropractic care lowers your overall stress level, allows your body to function at its best, and protects against injury. It is one of the most effective preventative health care measures you can take.

We at Thrive Chiropractic would love to support you in your healthcare journey!
